Sensitisation is if we see the effect of a bad action or crime in media, for example; loads of blood,we are more likely to think about the consiquences on doing it ourselves.

Desensitisation

Desensitisation is a theory that suggests that action on screen can influence the behaviour of the viewer of the media. For example, the audience’s attitude to violence can be affected by being shown to too much violence onscreen that they may not even realise their actions are beyond.The violence on screen may become normal behaviour which they may consume as acceptable making them ‘desensitised’ to real life violence.

Syringe Theory

The Syrninge theory is that the media is like a syringe which injects ideas, attitudes and beliefs into the audience.
However people can be affected in different ways by the media.
e.g- By watching voilent films and crimes, can reflect on people and make them change the same way as the behaviour in the media they have been watching.

Match on Action: An action which is started in one shot, for example shot A but is completed in another shot, for example shot B! However it can also be where shot A is mirrored by an action in shot B! Below is an example of match on action.....

Shot reverse shot: A film technique where one character is shown looking at another character, and then the other character is shown looking back at the first character in the action/scene. one person on screen at a time!

180 Degree rule: 180° rule is a basic guideline in film making that shows that two characters in a scene should have the left/right relationship to each other.
